If not, you’re not alone. Nothing about this year feels normal, and that includes the transition from winter to spring. Luckily, whether you have 5 minutes or a whole day to focus on getting to a place where it feels like spring, we have some ideas for ways you can get that spring in your step and celebrate this season of mild weather and growth!
Here are a few of our favorite ideas.
1. Make a spring drink at home
Sure, you may not be able to visit your favorite coffee shop, brewery, or bar, but there are lots of fun ways to enjoy a springy drink at home! From (non-alcoholic) matcha lemonades and iced lavender lattes to margaritas and mojitos, get out some of those mixers you haven’t used in weeks and have some fun trying different recipes!
2. Go for a walk
Yes, you can still do this while quarantining, though many of us forget! Take your pet, your earbuds, or just a good attitude and have some fun exploring your neighborhood. Other options include walking around deserted downtowns or traveling down nearby walking and biking paths but remember to bring a mask with you if you’re going to a densely populated area.
3. Eat outside
If your local parks are open, this is a great time to plan a picnic! If not, you can still create a fun picnic feel by eating lunch out in the yard or on your balcony. A simple sandwich or salad tastes infinitely better sitting in the sunlight with a cool breeze going by!
4. Plant some herbs
Even if you don’t have room for a full garden, you can start an herb garden that’s small enough to fit on a windowsill but big enough for all your cooking needs! The scent of the herbs and the dirt they grow in will be a fun reminder that warm weather is here (or at least on the way), and the fresh herbs they produce will be the perfect addition to spring recipes. Some easy, multi-purpose herbs to start with are sweet basil, rosemary, and peppermint.
5. Spring clean your home
It’s not too late to participate in this annual tradition! Open up some windows, light a fresh-smelling candle, and take some time to deep clean, declutter, and organize your things. Whether you live in a tiny apartment or a big house, there’s always a few cleaning tasks that need to be done this time of year, and there’s no better time than the present to do them. Need an extra-springy dose of energy? Put together a spring playlist of fun songs to listen to while you work!
While this is far from the spring we were all expecting, there’s no reason to stay cooped up inside feeling like winter never even ended. Try one of these activities this weekend to get a spring back into your step and enjoy what this season has to offer!
